FORMULA 1: Ryan Reynolds buys stake in Alpine F1 team

Maverick Hollywood investors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have added another sports brand to their list of investments after taking a stake in Formula 1 team Alpine.
The duo, who are already owners of League Two football club Wrexham, are part of a consortium that is taking 24% ownership in Alpine. The consortium also includes Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners.
RedBird is an investor in Fenway Sports Group, the owners of Premier League side Liverpool and the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
Announcing the deal Alpine chief executive Laurent Rossi said: “This association is an important step to enhance our performance at all levels.
“Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments, as international players with a strong track record in the sports industry, will bring their recognized expertise to boost our media and marketing strategy, essential to support our sporting performance over the long term.
“The incremental revenue generated will in turn be reinvested in the team, in order to further accelerate our Mountain Climber plan, aimed at catching up with top teams in terms of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment,” he said.
