UFC Champion Dricus du Plessis lends clout to Bulls v Stormers derby
February 22, 2024

Without a win over the Stormers in seven attempts in the URC, the Bulls are going all out to try to get one over their Cape rivals when the sides square up at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday evening.
The goal for the game is to sell out all of the 50000 seats available said Bulls marketing manager Shanil Mangaroo who said he had enlisted all sorts of additional entertainment to lure fans to the ground.
Aside from live music and DJ’s, South Africa’s UFC Champion Dricus du Plessis will also be in attendance.
Speaking ahead of the game Mangaroo told TimesLive: “There has been huge interest in the clash.
“We are on track to fill it up. I’m confident we can do it.
“Pretoria wakes up quite late in buying tickets. Normally in match week it goes slow Monday, Tuesday, picks up Wednesday, Thursday and Friday when the team announcement goes up, it explodes,” he said, adding that more than 20000 tickets had already been sold.
Commenting on the Dricus du Plessis appearance he said: “We’ve invited him to pull in and enjoy the game with us. It is quite funny because he is a huge Stormers fan. He’s helping us create a bit of banter as well which is quite nice.
“We are going to perch him on a deck we are putting up behind the poles on the northern side of the ground.
“Dricus and his girlfriend will be sitting up there and two fans will have the opportunity to sit with them. That has created so much traction because he is hot property,” he said.
