Roy Keane unleashes stinging criticism at United after 3-1 derby loss

Manchester United delivered another underwhelming performance as they went down 3-1 to neighbours Manchester City in the Mancunian derby on Sunday, a result that saw former skipper Roy Keane unleash some scathing criticism.

Although United took an early lead through a Marcus Rashford strike, they were second-best in almost every aspect of the game and it came as no surprise that City ran away with things in the end. Stats showed that United had just three shots in the game, with the goal their only effort on target.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game Keane said: “Standards have dropped. We’re almost praising United. They’ve lost. They used to perform in the big games and compete.

“Now we’re sitting here saying they did alright, better shape. They lost 3-1.

“For half an hour they were just hanging in there and didn’t get a kick.

“Eleven league games they’ve lost. It’s a scary stat. It was men versus boys at the end. They were just hanging in there, making mistakes. It could have been four or five.

“I don’t want to be too hard on United because City were brilliant. They showed why they’re champions.

“What City do is they find out all your shortcomings. There’s no hiding place. It’s like a boxing ring. They wore them down.

“The stats show you how dominant Man City were. Haaland and De Bruyne weren’t at their best, but Foden stepped up.

“I think it’s more credit to Man City than being too critical of Man Utd. Manchester United will have to take their medicine today. Huge question marks for this team and the manager,” said Keane.
