Game against Arsenal will be like a final says Man City’s Guardiola

March 18, 2024

Pep Guardiola

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has an FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea and a Champions League quarterfinal against Real Madrid on the horizon, but it is the Premier League game against Arsenal which will be played immediately after the international break that is foremost in the Spaniard’s mind.

City are hoping to repeat last season’s feat of winning the treble, but with just ten games left to play they are currently in third place on the table – that could change though with a win against leaders Arsenal, who at this stage are a single point ahead of them.

Speaking after the draw for the FA Cup was made on Sunday night Guardiola described the game against Arsenal as a final. Interviewed by the official Manchester City website he said: “It’s one step at a time.

“We have a final against Arsenal.

“I don’t want to think too much in the future right now. It’s been an intense period.

“I will not watch the international games. I will rest and when they arrive back, we will see which players survive.

“When we come back, we will have three days to prepare for the game against Arsenal. Let’s go,” he said.

Manchester City versus Arsenal is scheduled for Sunday 31 March. It kicks off at 17:30.
