PROTEAS v IRELAND: Nandre Burger returns home with back injury – will miss Bangladesh tour as well

As the Proteas prepare to face Ireland in the second ODI in Abu Dhabi on Friday, they have been hit by the news that quick bowler Nandre Burger will be unavailable due to injury.
Burger will not feature again in the series against Ireland and he has also been withdrawn from the upcoming Test tour to Bangladesh.
A statement released by Cricket South Africa read: “Proteas fast bowler Nandre Burger has been ruled out of the remainder of the One-Day International series against Ireland and the upcoming Test tour of Bangladesh due to a lumbar stress reaction.
“The 29-year-old experienced discomfort in his lower back, and subsequent scans revealed the injury. He will return home and undergo further assessments.
“His replacement for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh will be announced in due course.”
The second ODI between South Africa and Ireland starts at 1:30pm on Friday.
