Tiger Woods to miss Augusta after rupturing Achilles while training

Tiger Woods has confirmed that he will be sidelined from golf for the foreseeable future after rupturing the Achilles tendon in his left leg.
The 15-time major champion, who has struggled with injuries in recent times, confirmed that the injury happened while he was training at home.
He has given no indication of how long he will be sidelined for.
Taking to social media he wrote: “As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured.
“This morning, Dr Charlton Stucken of the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon,” he said.
Woods, who is now 49 years old, had reportedly been hoping to make his return to action at the Masters at Augusta at the start of April. He has not competed in a PGA Tour event since last July when he turned out in The Open at Royal Troon.
