BUNDESLIGA: Burnley boss Vincent Kompany set to named as new Bayern Munich manager

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is reportedly set to be unveiled as the new manager of Bayern Munich with football super-agent Fabrizio Romano saying the former Manchester City defender has agreed terms with the German giants.

Bayern have been in the hunt for a new manager after it was announced earlier in the season that Thomas Tuchel would be parting ways with the club. Since then, some of the biggest names in football have been linked with the job, with Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick all reportedly courted by the club.

But it seems that Kompany is the man who will take up the post, with Romano suggesting that all that needs to be done is for Bayern and Burnley to agree a compensation package.

Writing on Twitter Romano said: “Bayern are closing in on deal to appoint Vincent Kompany as new head coach, it’s imminent.

“Kompany accepted Bayern job right after their first call revealed on Monday, he’s ready for new chapter.

“Bayern and Burnley are in contact to get deal done on compensation fee.”

Kompany, who led Burnley from the Championship and into the Premier League, was unable to keep the Clarets in the top-flight, but despite this he has emerged from the season with an enhanced reputation to become a highly sought after manager – with his name also linked to vacancies at Chelsea and Brighton.

As a player Kompany won four Premier League titles with Manchester City.
