CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Man Utd last in Pool A after another bad night for Erik ten Hag
November 9, 2023

Manchester United dropped to the bottom of Champion’s League Group A after they lost 4-3 to FC Copenhagen on Wednesday night.
It was a tough night for Erik ten Hag and his charges who saw a 2-0 lead disappear after Marcus Rashford was red-carded in the 42nd minute.
United had scored twice through former Copenhagen man Rasmus Hojlund, but the VAR decision in the 42nd minute to remove Rashford from the field changed the momentum of the game and the Danes were back on level terms before the break.
Although United took the lead again courtesy of a Bruno Fernandes penalty, once again after a VAR review, there was still enough time for Copenhagen to equalize again and then find the winner.
Speaking after the game Ten Hag said: “We played very good until the red card. The red card changed everything. Then we concede two goals that should never count.
“Not only tonight. In this moment, we are in a season where we have to deal with many decisions against us.
“That’s how it is. I’m sure it will turn. A season is long and at some point, it will turn in our favour.”
The result is a ninth defeat in 17 games for Ten Hag. United are currently eighth in the Premier League. Their chances of finishing second in their Champion’s League group are still alive, although Bayern Munich, who top the group, are a long way out of sight and uncatchable at the head of the group.
United’s remaining Champion’s League games are away to Galatasaray on the 29th of November and then at home to Bayern on 12 December.
