Charles Leclerc looking to follow-up his Monaco win by targeting victory at Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix

After last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix win for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, the driver has closed the gap on the Drivers’ Championship table with leader Max Verstappen to 31 points.

Leclerc is full of confidence that the race could be a chance for Ferrari to beat Red Bull again, noting that the three-time Drivers’ winner Max Verstappen had suffered two losses in his last three races, as the Red Bull vehicle could struggle at the Montreal circuit.

“Monaco was particularly favourable (for Ferrari). Maybe here it is neutral. I don’t think it puts too much in light the strength of the Red Bull so it might again be an opportunity for us,” said Leclerc in a press conference on Thursday.

“I don’t think their strength is kerb riding and here there is quite a lot of kerb riding.”

McLaren’s Lando Norris, who claimed the win in Miami, told reporters that he believes Ferrari is the clear favourite to claim the win in Canada, although he added that it is likely to be a close finish.

“I always knew Monaco would not be an easy weekend. We had a good direction we wanted to work in. It takes time, step by step. We will try to improve that. This is a good opportunity to find performance we didn’t think about in the first place,” said Verstappen.

“We still have a quick car but some tracks just work a little bit better for us than others. Here it is not just the track layout, it is dealing with the weather and how wet it is going to be.”
