Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure has ended after one season.

Pochettino joined Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain in the French Ligue 1 in 2023.

Chelsea ended the 2023-24 English Premier League in sixth position under Pochettino.

“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season,” read a statement from sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.

“He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.”

Pochettino, who has also coached Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton in the EPL, added: “Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and sporting directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history.

“The club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”

Support staff Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino have left Chelsea, too.

“The club will be making no further comment until such time as a new head coach is appointed,” concluded a statement from Chelsea.

Chelsea qualified for next season’s Europa Conference League.
