FA CUP: Man Utd drawn to face Coventry in FA Cup semi
March 18, 2024

The draw for the semi-finals of the FA Cup has taken place and Manchester United’s hopes of silverware and a Wembley Final look decidedly brighter after they were drawn to face Championship outfit Coventry City.
Coventry, who famously won the trophy back in 1987, will face United while in the other clash, it is Chelsea versus Manchester City – which means the prospect of an all-Manchester final is very much on the cards.
Both semi-finals will take place at Wembley Stadium on the weekend of 20-21 April.
Coventry aside, the other three sides all have excellent pedigrees in the world’s oldest football competition. Chelsea have reached five of the last seven FA Cup finals – although they last won the title in 2018.
Manchester United have won the trophy 12 times, while City will be hoping to reach their 13 final – and to repeat their feat of last season by winning three trophies.
Commenting on the draw Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said he would not be taking anything for granted despite the Sky Blues lower tier status: “It doesn’t matter who the opponent is, you have to play your best.
“Yesterday we saw Coventry are a very strong side. They played fantastic football, and we have to play our best if we want to be in the final,” he said.
