FA CUP: Manchester United lose Anthony Martial for FA Cup final

Manchester United will be without forward Anthony Martial for Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Martial sustained a hamstring injury during last week’s English Premier League clash with Fulham.
“Anthony Martial is out of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup final against Manchester City due to injury,” read a statement from Manchester United.
“The France international strained his hamstring towards the end of Sunday’s 2-1 win against Fulham at Old Trafford.
“Assessments have since revealed a muscle tear that rules the 27-year-old out of the Wembley showdown.”
Manager Erik ten Hag added: “If you are not available, you can’t score. When Martial is available we played better, the team is winning games. He’s also scoring goals but he has to be available.”
Manchester United have not won the FA Cup title since 2016, when they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the final.
Manchester City last won the FA Cup title in 2019, when they beat Watford 6-0 in the final.
Manchester City successfully defended their English Premier League title recently – and will face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final in early June 2023, too.
