Former F1 World Champion set to auction his vast collection of memorabilia

Formula One fans who fancy getting their hands on some quality memorabilia might be interested to know that former World Champion Nigel Mansell is set to auction the contents of his Isle of Man museum.

The collection, which includes race helmets and a number of the British drivers’ iconic caps, is being auctioned by Sotheby’s.

Mansell, who won the Driver’s Championship in 1992 while driving for Williams said:  “The collection is hugely personal to me.

“It is, in short, the material manifestation of the most significant moments of my career and it represents everything that I worked for from my teenage years through to the end of my racing career.”

In all Mansell won 31 Grands Prix and had 59 podium finishes. Over the course of his 15-year F1 career he drove for Lotus, Williams, Ferrari and McLaren.

The auction, which takes place online between 4th and 11th October is expecting to see items, like the helmet worn my Mansell when he won his last Grand Prix, fetch prices of close to GBP 50,000.
