FORMULA ONE: Adrian Newey exits Red Bull but plans to stay in F1

May 17, 2024

Legendary F1 designer and engineer Adrian Newey has confirmed that he will remain in Formula One and that he will link up with another team.

Newey, who has been a key contributor to the success at Red Bull, announced he was leaving the team earlier this month following reported dissatisfaction at the way the Christian Horner scandal was dealt with.

Now, he has broken his silence on his future plans saying: “I feel a little bit tired at the moment, but at some point, I’ll probably go again.

“I am seriously considering changing teams, going somewhere else and doing another four or five years or whatever.”

Newey, who aside from his work with Red Bull, was also a key figure at Williams and McLaren, earlier said that he was surprised at the amount of interest his decision to leave Red Bull had generated.

“To walk away from Red Bull was a very hard decision but it was one I needed to take for a whole host of reasons. They had been my family.”

“I never really thought it would be big news, so for it to be in all the flipping papers and on the telly was almost a bit of a shock,” he said.

Although it is unclear where he may go, Newey has been linked with moves to Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren.
