John Maduka says Andile Mpisane works hard in training

Royal AM chairman Andile Mpisane had social media aflutter again on Saturday when he appeared on the bench for the second time this season.

Mpisane was an unused substitute as Royal AM bagged a valuable point from a goalless draw with Kaizer Chiefs.

But it wasn’t his selection on the bench that had people talking, it was more the fact that he didn’t appear to be in proper physical shape.

But according to his coach John Maduka, Mpisane is putting in the hard yards at training and was selected on merit – not just because he is the team owner.

“He works, he works. He finishes the sessions whenever we are doing conditioning, he is not a player who pulls out of training.

“He might look the way he looks but he does finish training sessions.

“The conditioning part is very, very tough but he does manage to finish. Last week we used him when we played a friendly against AmaZulu,” said Maduka.

“He played about 75 minutes in which he never looked like a player who would get tired. He is still part of the team.”

Royal AM, who are currently sixth on the league table, are in action again on Wednesday when they host Sekhukhune United.
