France and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has failed a drugs test and has been provisionally suspended from all football.

Reports from Italy suggest that the World Cup-winning midfielder was found to have elevated levels of testosterone when he was tested after Juventus’ 3-0 Serie A win over Udinese.

A statement released by Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal read: “In acceptance of the instance proposed by the National Anti-doping Prosecutor, it has provided for the provisional suspension of the athlete Paul Labile Pogba.”

The statement confirmed that Pogba had tested positive for “non-endogenous testosterone metabolites”, which it said were, “consistent with the exogenous origin of the target compounds.”

Juventus confirmed the situation. In a short statement released on Monday night, they said: “Paul Pogba has been suspended for an anti-doping offense — the club will consider how to act on next steps of the process.”

Pogba has struggled with injury in recent times and has made just two substitute appearances for Juventus this season as he recovers slowly from knee and hamstring injuries.
