World Cup winner Andres Iniesta says he wants to keep on playing and that he does not intend to retire.
The 39-year-old, who made 674 senior appearances for Barcelona and won 32 trophies with the Spanish giants moved to Japan in 2018. He has been on the books of Vissel Kobe ever since but he is set to leave the club at the end of June.
Since making the move to Japan Iniesta has played 133 times for the club, winning Japan’s Emperor’s Cup in 2019 and the Japanese Super Cup the following year. His game time in the current season has been limited to just three appearances off the substitutes bench.

But the serial winner says he has not considered retiring. Speaking to the BBC he said: “I want to finish my time here properly and then see what options are available to me,” he said.
“I want to keep playing and then retire while I’m still active. That’s difficult for me to do here, so I want to find a place where I can eventually retire.
“I always thought I would retire here, but things haven’t gone as I wanted them to.
“For the past few months I’ve trained hard with the intention of contributing to the team, but I started to feel that the coach had different priorities,” said the man who scored Spain’s winning goal in the final of the 2010 World Cup.
