Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish plot improved performance from Manchester City
May 10, 2023

Manager Pep Guardiola wants Manchester City to play with “more rhythm” in 17 May 2023’s second-leg UEFA Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
The first-leg semi-final was drawn 1-1 on Tuesday, after Kevin De Bruyne and Vinicius Junior scored for Manchester City and Real Madrid, respectively.
“We’ll have to see how we can find a balance, if we can attack a little bit,” said Guardiola.
“David Alaba and Antonio]Rudiger were so close to Erling Haaland.
“The spaces between the centre-backs and full-backs were occupied; it wasn’t easy to find space for Erling.
“We’ll try to make some changes, to play with a little bit more rhythm.”
Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish is looking forward to facing Real Madrid again. The Spanish giants beat City in last season’s UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
“We’ve learned so much since last year,” Grealish told BT Sport.
“We have a new team this year, different players. It’s a year ago. We have the perfect balance of experience and world-class youngsters. I’ve never felt so confident going onto the pitch having the players around me.”
This season’s first leg was played at the Santiago Bernabeu in Spain. The second leg will be hosted by the Ethiad Stadium in England.
“At the Etihad, we feel unstoppable,” added Grealish.
“We came here to try to win, but it shows our character to go a goal down in a place like this. In the end I think it was a fair result. They had their chances, we had a few.”
