Premier League referee David Coote sacked with immediate effect

Controversial Premier League referee David Coote has been sacked by referees body, Professional Game Match Officials Limited after an investigation into his conduct found him wanting.
Initially Coote, who was suspeneded while an investigation took place, was the focal point of a video that surfaced on social media which showed him making derogatory remarks about Liverpool and their former coach Jurgen Klopp.
Shortly after that video surfaced another found its way into the public domain this one reportedly showing him sniffing a white powder through a rolled up bank note.
Commenting on the situation a PGMOL statement said: “Following the conclusion of a thorough investigation into Coote’s conduct, his employment with PGMOL has been terminated today with immediate effect.
“Coote’s actions were found to be in serious breach of the provisions of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenable.
“Supporting Coote continues to be important to us and we remain committed to his welfare.
“Coote has a right to appeal the decision to terminate his employment.”
Prior to his suspension Coote had officiated 112 Premier League games and been VAR in a further 64 matches.
