PSL: Mamelodi Sundowns want to extend unbeaten run against TS Galaxy

Sundowns Midfielder Tashreeq Matthews

Midfielder Tashreeq Matthews is anticipating a challenging Premier Soccer League fixture against TS Galaxy on Tuesday.

Sundowns, who currently occupy first place on the 2023-24 PSL points table and have retained the title, will play fourth-placed TS Galaxy in Nelspruit.

“We played against them not a long time ago and the scoreline was 3-0. Of course, they will have more of the ball possession and at times they will go on to a low block, where it will be a bit challenging for us to get through,” said Matthews.

“We will find ways to get behind and in between the lines. We just have to make use of the opportunities to score.”

Sundowns have 72 points after 22 draws and six draws this PSL season. They have the opportunity to end this season’s campaign undefeated.

“It is a great achievement, but we have an opportunity to even go further and break it again. We have two games left and we can move from 72 to 75 points when we meet TS Galaxy,” added Matthews.

“Then we have the weekend game against Cape Town City, where we can extend it to 78 points, so it feels good making history and breaking records as a team, but we have the opportunity to take it even further.”
