Rodri views Champions League final as ‘exam Manchester City have to pass again’
June 5, 2023

Midfielder Rodri has shifted Manchester City’s focus to Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan in Turkey.
Manchester City beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final recently – and are the reigning English Premier League champions. They are targeting the treble.
“It’s the exam we have to pass again. It’s another final and we are ready. I’m going to push the guys to be ourselves, be confident, try our best and fight for the final,” said Rodri.
“We have not been focusing on it too much but of course it is there, something we dream about. Inter are a tough team, with five at the back. They are in the final, too.”
Rodri joined Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in the Spanish LaLiga in 2019. He was a Champions League runner-up with City in 2021 after losing the final to Chelsea.
“I feel in the best moment – physically, mentally, the way I understand the game. I have tried to grow and learn. This is my fourth year and there have been a lot of lessons. I feel more mature,” he added.
“But you have to win. It’s not only about playing well, it is about being part of a winning team. We have tried to learn a lot from the past. The conviction is there always. Now it’s one game.”
