Ronwen Williams is AFCON’s keeper of the tournament, Bafana claim fair play gong

Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams was named goalkeeper of the tournament as AFCON came to an end on Sunday night following a 2-1 win for host nation Ivory Coast over Nigeria.
Williams, who saved four penalties in the shoot-out win over Cape Verde, and a further two in the semi-final loss against Nigeria also kept clean sheets in five games at the tournament.
Paying tribute to Williams fellow PSL keeper and AFCON finalist Stanley Nwabali, who plies his trade for Chippa United and Nigeria said: “Ronwen Williams is a very good goalkeeper, to be honest. I am competing with this kind of guy, and he has the chance to win the best goalkeeper of the tournament, he deserves it.”
Other awards announced after the final included a fair play award for South Africa. This award is for the team that accumulates the fewest cards in the tournament.
