Springbok winger Aphiwe Dyanty

Thirteen-cap Springbok Aphiwe Dyantyi has completed his four-year ban for doping and has signed for The Sharks as he gets ready to play rugby again.

Winger Dyantyi, who scored six tries during his time as a Springbok said he could not wait to show what he could do in the black and white jersey of the Sharks.

“More than anything, I’m just excited to be back and I trust everyone who is around is as excited as I am to see what I can do.

“I only promise to do my best for the jersey.

“I’ve been in Durban for quite some time now and I’ve kind of seen what the Sharks mean to the people, I want to contribute to that.

“I’ve seen the pride the people have, and I would like to honour that in all I do and the fans to see that be reflected on what I do on the field,” he said.

Dyantyi, who famously scored a brace of tries when the Springboks beat the All Blacks in New Zealand in 2018, joins a stellar cast of backline players at the Sharks, which include Lukhanyo Am, Makazole Mapimpi and Aphelele Fassi.

Dyantyi’s ban officially comes to an end in August.
