Tuesday clash a big opportunity for Man City says Guardiola
February 20, 2024

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he has no idea if his side will be able to win the Premier League, but he said no matter what they want to be in the running for as long as possible.
With this in mind he described Tuesday night’s home game against Brentford as a major opportunity. Speaking to the media ahead of the game he said: “We created a lot against Chelsea when lately few teams created chances against them but it doesn’t make Tuesday easier because the games against Brentford in the past have always been so difficult.
“They are exceptional for the way they play.
“But it is an opportunity to go one point above Arsenal in second and be closer to Liverpool.
“I don’t know if we’re going to win the Premier League but we are still there and this is why we continue.
“We have to continue to improve and focus and be in the title race,” he said.
Guardiola, who knows a good footballer when he sees one, went on to describe Bees striker Ivan Toney as one of the best players around. “He is so dangerous.
“He’s a master to use his body for the second ball, good finishing, you can link with him – he’s one of the best I’ve ever seen at that.
“A few weeks ago, the goal we conceded to him, we defended not properly, but he did it really well.”
Manchester City versus Brentford kicks off at 9:30pm on Tuesday night.
